Deleting Old Pay Accounts

Our district asked the following:
We are reviewing pay accounts for our active employees.
When entering NEWCNT, we entered updated pay accounts for those that needed changed. Now, when looking at the PAYSCN in USPS, the account is listed as a larger Acct #. For example, we have some employees who for Job 1 in the PAYSCN, they might have 9 Acct #s all for Job 1…the first 8 Acct #s have Account status: I (for inactive) and then the 9th one is the active one. Is there a way to clean up the PAYSCN so that the active pay Acct is listed as Acct #1?

Do you have your districts remove old pay accounts?

What they could do is make the Acct #1 to Acct# 10, then make the Active account # 9 to Acct#1.  That way they are not deleting any accounts out and the Active Account will be listed first.

Also, they can use PAYDEL to delete out inactive pay accounts.  make sure they run it in projection first and verify the report and then run it in actual.

What about the PAYDEL program. That deletes old pay accounts by what ever criteria that you select.

Melody,

That option is still new to me and I keep forgetting about it!  Yes, they can use PAYDEL to delete inactive pay accounts.  Have them run it in projection first, to verify the report and making sure it looks good first.

Thanks,!
